AMIE stands for Associate member of Institution of Engineers
(India). The Institution of Engineers (India) is the largest multi-disciplinary body of engineers in India. It has over five
lakhs members on its roll and fifteen engineering disciplines.
In 1928
the Institution started a non-formal engineering education programme (AMIE) , successful completion of which is officially
recognised as equivalent to a degree in engineering (B.E/ B.Tech) by the Government of India, UPSC, and all state Public Service
Commissions.
